About
Nestled in the heart of Glasgow at 381 Dumbarton Rd, Caffe Monza offers a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels both familiar and special. This charming café has earned its reputation with a blend of excellent coffee, homely food, and attentive staff. As a spot for brunch or a casual catch-up, it consistently delivers comfort in every cup and plate.
The coffee here stands out as a true highlight. Sourced from Azzurro, the blends serve as a reliable "hug in a mug" — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Whether you prefer a robust Americano or a creamy cappuccino, each cup resonates with freshness and care, making it a favored choice for families and solo visitors alike. The inclusion of babycinos also underscores their family-friendly spirit, adding a thoughtful touch for younger guests.
On the food front, Caffe Monza offers dishes that complement their coffee beautifully. The paninis, described as amazing by patrons, pair wonderfully with the café’s relaxed vibe. While some toasties have been noted to arrive slightly lukewarm, their taste and quality still shine through. The highland vegetable soup and cheese ham toasties showcase the homely charm that defines the menu—simple, satisfying, and hearty.
The café’s atmosphere is another notable feature. With polite and friendly staff creating a welcoming environment, it’s a place where conversation flows easily — when the music is kept in check. Some have found the background music a tad loud at times, which can disrupt the cozy ambiance. Still, the overall setting remains inviting, enhanced further by practical touches like a baby changing station, proving attention to customer comfort beyond the food and drink.
In summary, Caffe Monza is a Glasgow gem where the quality of coffee and wholesome food harmonize with personable service and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a café that encourages lingering conversations and repeat visits, promising a consistent experience grounded in warmth and authenticity.
“ Stopped in for brunch, had the highland veg soup and cheese ham toasties. Nice cafe, good atmosphere and nice food. Toasties could have been a little hotter as they were luke warm but overall a good place to stop ”
“ First visit today to Caffè Monza. We were asked to take a seat when we went to order at the counter which we did. Sat for about 15 mins and asked a young waitress if we could order food as noone had taken it. She said to order at the till. So that was a bit frustrating. HOWEVER the coffee and amazing Panini's made up for that little blip. Will definitely be back and recommend to friends and family. Coffees much better than any of the big chain shops ”
“ Very nice place:) good coffee! Cake was good, too. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are very polite and friendly There’s a baby changing station in the toilet. ”
“ Excellent coffee, great food and friendly service. Music though was too loud! I don't mind a bit of background music in a café, but today it was too much, we couldn't have a proper conversation, as we couldn't hear each other. I come here often and usually the music is not too bad, but today it was far too loud. I may have to go elsewhere in future. I rated this place five stars previously, but it has now dropped a star. Update on my last review. Music now at a tolerable level. However, hot chocolate had to be changed twice as it was not hot enough. The third one was better but still not hot. It's called a HOT chocolate for a reason! Don't think it would sell if it was called a lukewarm chocolate. ”
“ Had a great coffee and cake here with 2 relatively small children in tow. Coffee was excellent, I’ve been here a couple of times before (but not for a while) and it’s tasted great every time. I had a cappuccino, my dad had Americano and the girls had “babycinos”. The coffee is from Azzurro and a good homely blend, nothing too fancy but a good “hug in a mug”. One child had a cinnamon whirl which she liked so much I didn’t get to sample any, my dad and I had homemade empire biscuits (though the icing was a bit on the thick side I felt it added to the authenticity - my dad thought it was great!) and the other child had a gypsy cream. I couldn’t eat a whole one but the wee sample was nice! It’s a lovely environment, the staff are attentive and pleasant, service was quick and they’ve got WiFi. Definitely adding to the list and I’ll try and come in for breakfast/lunch sometime! ”
